Anegan - Harris’ yet another copycat album, except two tracks

From the most celebrated music director, who is often accused by YouTube
and online portals for constant copycats and on pars for some of his
commendable works – Harris Jayaraj is back with Anegan. The film stars
Dhanush and Amyra Dastur in female lead roles with Karthik performing an
important character. KV Anand has directed this big budget flick produced
by AGS Entertainment.

Danga Maari Oodhari
Singers: Dhanush, Marana Gana Viji, Naveen Madhav
Lyrics: Rokesh

A perfect start to capture the mass audience and the lovers of so-called
Gaana Kuthu numbers! Danga Maari Oodhari is a tremendous treat from Dhanush
along with Marana Gana Viji and Naveen Madhav. The song boasts of a fast
beat throughout the track and Dhanush although doesn’t the complete song to
croon it, Harris Jayaraj has tried to add up more intensity using other two
singers. But one thing that strikes our mind is that Harris has completely
replicated the beat from his very own compositions from ‘Saamy’ and ‘Arul’
title song.

Roja Kadale

Singers: Chimnayi, Shankar Mahadevan and Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics: Vairamuhtu

OMG! Such an exact copycat and is really Harris aware of what is he doing
here? Such a disgrace to hear the same tune of ‘Kilimanjaro’ from AR
Rahman’s Enthiran and even the vocalising style seems to be based on the
similar paradigms. When it’s a copycat, what else can you say about the
rest?

Aathadi Aathadi

Singers: Abhay Jodhpurkar, Bhavatharani, Dhanush, Tippu
Lyrics: Vairamuthu

There is certain freshness in the track and the singers try to add their
best perfection to the songs. Bhavatharani scores the best in her portions.
The lyrical lines by Vairamuthu are worthy of good appraisals.

YOLO – (You only live once)

Singers: Eden, Ramya NSK, Richard, Shail Haida, Vickey
Lyrics: C.S. Amudhan

Have you ever come across the most famous commercial advertisement track –
BARCADI? Yes, it’s a country style music genre and Harris Jayaraj though
has not researched completely has nicely lifted the tunes and we don’t feel
the impact to any extent.

Thodu Vaanam

Singers: Hariharan, Shakthisree Gopalan
Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Melodiously carved with some neat detailing of vocalisms by Hariharan and
Shakthisree Gopalan make it more convincing... Hariharan becomes the
absolute showstopper here and the duo works some mellisonant magic with the
track.

Deivangal Ingae

Singers: Sriram Parthasarathy
Lyrics: Kabilan

As the album comes to an end, Harris Jayaraj doesn’t let you so much
disappointed with the previous number turning to be somewhat good and this
one too offers some pleasant mood when you hear it. Sriram Parthasarathy
gives a best appeal with his decorous rendition.

On the whole, ‘Anegan’ deserves an average remark Harris Jayaraj easily
reminds us off various tunes from many albums and only the final tracks –
Thodu Vaanam and Deivangal are the only appreciable ones and rest are a
plain disappointment.

Verdict : Harris’ yet another copycat album, except two tracks

Stars : 1.5/5
