Idam Porul Yaeval - : Decorous spell by Yuvan in rural backdrops.

The film comes from the director of National award winning film Thenmerku Paruva Kaatru, Seenu Ramasamy. Idam Porul Eval stars Vijay Sethupathi, Vishnu Vishal, Ishwarya Rajesh and Nandita in lead roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja after a long hiatus comes up with an album completely based on rural backdrops to the lyrical lines of Vairamuthu and let us see how we find the album.

Eerakkaathae

Vocals: Senthildass and Anitha

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

A super melody to start with the album that has every element to attract the music lovers. A promising melodic duet and you can feel the visuals in your imagination. A beautiful rendition by Senthildass and Anitha has given the perfect intonation of shifting between major and minor notes. Senthildass slightly reminiscences of Isaignani Ilayaraja’s voice and the flute works during the interludes along with whistles are the cherry picks.

Kurunthogai

Vocals: VV Prasanna, Sonia

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Too poetic in the lines of literature Tamil and unlike other directors and music directors, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Seenu Ramasamy have retained the beautiful lines of Vairamuthu. To make it more appropriate for the present generation of music lovers, Yuvan Shankar Raja has tried adding some catchy beats, but it could have been better if it had been conveyed more melodically without this rhythmic style.

Endha Vazhi

Vocals: Vaikom Vijayalakshmi

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Her name is more than enough to stir an unusually poignant feel through our senses. Her voice is so crystal clear and it shows the pathos of a soul. She touches the high pitch notes at an ease. Being a Malayali, she has rendered the Tamil lines with the right paradigms. Vairamuthu proves of his prowess in writing yet again. The kind of instrumentals, Yuvan has used during the interludes is a fantabulous one and the percussions is the greatest highlights of this song.

Kondaattame

Vocals: Sriram Parthasarathy

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Having spelled a mind-boggling track ‘Aanandha Yaazhinai’ from Thanga Meengal, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Sriram Parthasarathy are coming together for yet another melody. The song speaks about the soul’s harmony albeit the tough speculations. It’s an inspirational song that will surely capture the masses in a short span of time. It looks like a montage song pictured on a person who has come across a journey of difficulties.

Aththuvaana Kaattukku

Vocals: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Yet again, a philosophical sort of song that has some catchy lines and Yuvan tries to intonate with the best touch. It would gradually gain its impact with the visuals.

Vaiyambatti

Vocals: Anthony Dasan and Priyadarshini

Lyrics: Vairamuthu

The beats in the backdrops slightly reminiscences of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s yesteryear hit number ’60 Aagiduchu’ from Mounam Pesiyadhu and ‘Kondaaduda’ from Yuvan’s recent hit Thirudan Police. It sounds like the song would have a great appeal on the screens with some finest dance.

Overall, Idam Porul Eval is a commendable comeback for Yuvan Shankar Raja in a different panorama of rural backdrops. While his recent album Vai Raja Vai has already topped the charts with the urban touch, this one has its own way of impressing the music buffs.

Verdict : : Decorous spell by Yuvan in rural backdrops.

Stars : 3/5
