Arima Nambi - Arima Nambi – A super fast action thriller

Story: The story begins with Vikram Prabhu meeting Priya Anand at a pub. Following the intros, the two meet at a hotel the next day. Subsequently, Priya invites Vikram to her abode only to be kidnapped by someone. Vikram approaches the police but they do not buy his story for want of evidence. The hero returns to the kidnap site to find no traces of the occurrence. What makes the plot interesting is the sequence of events that follow the kidnap of the heroine.

Best: The newbie director Anand Shankar (former assistant of ace director A R Murugadoss) fundaments his plot on the true happenings in the life of a prominent political personality, simply modified to suit the interest of the Tamil audience with an involving screenplay. Minister Chakravarthy and a murder remains the reason behind the kidnap of the heroine.

Acting: Vikram Prabhu has a knack for selecting interesting scripts and this one is no different. The actor’s expressive eyes and clarity in voice helps in reaching the message to the audience. The heroine Priya Anand has not much of scope for acting as she is often seen racing with the hero.

Negatives: The director could have avoided pub scenes as they are found unnecessary. Moreover it has become a fad in recent films to show heroines consuming alcohol; this is seen as a cultural degradation. A central minister controlling the state police force is completely illogical. Hope the director could have done his homework better.

Technicalities: Cinematography by R D Rajasekhar and editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan helps maintain the momentum in the movie. Percussionist Sivamani’s music has added pace to the film. Songs are hummable.

Verdict : Arima Nambi – A super fast action thriller

Stars : 3/5
