Kaatru Veliyidai - A Visual Treat Guaranteed !

The Most Awaited Film of actor Karthi’s Kaatru Veliyidai has released world wide today. The film features Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari are playing the lead roles in this Mani Ratnam direction.
The refreshing trailers and the heartwarming songs have hinted that the romantic thriller will be on the lines of Mani Ratnam’s cult classic, Roja. Karthi will be seen as a military pilot who chances upon an army doctor played by Aditi Rao. The team is confident that the film will strike a chord with the younger generation of audience.
The film tells the romantic story of fighter pilot Varun (Karthi) and a doctor Leela (Aditi Rao Hydari). They have contrastingly different characters, yet find themselves attracted. The hero appears strong outside, but softer inside, while the heroine is fragile outside, but headstrong inside. The journey of their romance forms the crux of the story.
The film starts with 1999 Kargil war as the background. And during the war, an Indian pilot jumps off and lands into Pakistan territory. He was latter taken into Pakistan custody.  In Rawalpindi prison, the pilot Varun who is kept as a prisoner now, recalls his romance with a local doctor Leela. And the flashback begins in Srinagar (Kashmir). Leela is a doctor who works at military hospital Srinagar, who falls in love with Varun, a pilot at army base.
Did Varun Escape or released from prison? Did he meet Leela? What happened next? The answers to these questions form the crux of the story.
There are a lot of good things to mention about the flick. Karthi will win the women’s heart for sure with his smile and acting. He just lives the pilot character. Being proud of his profession and falling for Aditi, he does it very naturally. Aditi Rao Hyderi has done justice to her role as a doctor and her chemistry with Karthi is the major highlight of the movie. KPAC Lalitha, Shraddha Srinath, Rukmini Vijayakumar, RJ Balaji and others are also assets of the film.
The movie has a different storyline (atleast for us Indians), never seen before backdrop to the story, jaw dropping locations of Kashmir, real fighter jets – air base, couple of great visuals songs, very beautiful heroine, camera work and art work are on top notch.
The first half is cool, but the second off is very slow paced. At last, It is another romantic treat from Mani Ratnam filled with melodious songs & outstanding BGM composed by Music maestro AR Rahman, cinematography, and best locations.
