Manithan - A Cool Script, Must Watch!

REVIEW

Manithan is a film starring the popular face of Tamil film industry i.e. Udhayanidhi Stalin along Hansika Motwani and Prakash Raj in the lead role. Film Manithan is a remake of Subhash Kapoor’s 2013 Hindi film Jolly LLB. The story of the film is impressive and is attractive too. Subhash Kapoor wrote the story of the film. Film Manithan is directed by I. Ahmed and is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin. Dialogues of the movie made it an entertaining and the dialogues are written by Ajayan Bala. Santhosh Narayanan gave the music to the film. R. Madhi did the work of cinematography of the film.

STORY

The movie showcases Udhayanidhi Stalin as a small time lawyer by name Sakthi who comes across a hit and run case which was dealt by Adisheshan (Prakash Raj). The reel begins with an accident scene that was caused because of a rich man who was drunk out and boozing. The hero will be seen as the lawyer who takes up the case as he is desperate to have some money and fame and hence, files a PIL in the court against the accused.

Prakash Raj, being the criminal lawyer will be seen defending the accused saying that his client is innocent and that his rivals have made false allegations because he is rich. All the experiences that Sakthi gets while digging down the case and the difficulties he faces in winning the case is what creates the core story and twists for the movie.

Meanwhile during the story, Sakthi and Adisheshan become rivals; Priya (Hansika Motwani) who is the hero’s fiancee helps him find some important clues. What made Sakthi loose his thirst for money and concentrate on achieving justice and winning the case should be watched on the big screens.

PERFORMANCE

The film digs deep into the Court room proceedings and livelihoods of lawyers. The social care for the justice and rights of pavement dwellers and other such impoverished people is right in place. The film also raises some pertinent questions about the legal framework that most often favors the rich. Ajayan Bala’s dialogues render the apt support to the director’s vision and they are powerful and impactful in most of the scenes, especially the ones in the Court room.

Though there was a lag in the first half, the film just kicks off to a new level in the last 15 mins. Those were some nail gripping moments which decided the fate of the movie. Santosh Narayan songs were perfect.

Udhayanidhi Stalin and Prakash Raj’s acting and climax makes the highlight of the movie. Hansika looks very pretty and her characterization in the movie was too good. Not yet another usual role. Aishwarya Rajesh as a journalist neatly utilizes the scope to perform. Vivekh as the hero’s uncle and a lawyer manages to raise a few guffaws here and there. Radharavi as the Judge comes up with one of the best performances in his illustrative career. Madhie’s Cinematography captures Pollachi and Chennai in a likeable manner.
